Backgammon Tournaments
Thanks to the Internet Poker Boom, one thing that has become increasingly popular at most online gaming establishments are Online Tournaments.
Many Online Backgammon Parlors offer both Event Tournaments as well as Sit-N-Go Tournaments. Depending on where you play online, the entry fee's for the tournaments can range as low as $1 to up to $200. Most of the major backgammon establishments also offer Play for fun Tournaments (often referred to as Free Rolls allowing for Free Play).
Sit And Go Tournaments
Sit-N-Go Tournaments have become quite popular and run constantly at most Backgammon Establishments. Most Sit-N-Go Tournaments will start as soon as a pre-determined number of players register. Most sit-n-go's have a specified jackpot and buy-in.
When you are the winner of a match in a Sit And Go, you will advance to the next table to play an opponent that won a previous match with a different opponent. This progresses through the players involved in this tournament until a final winner is determined.
Often, many online backgammon places have small and medium sit-n-go's on enough of a regular basis that you can register and join a tournament and be playing in a matter of minutes.
Event Tournaments
Event Tournaments are predefined in advance, and are tournaments with a specified starting time and date. Because they are predefined and advertised well in advance, they often have become quite large and at times have rather large Jackpots offered.
